A prolific author, Dr. Johnson has penned numerous scholarly articles and more than 25 books. His 1986 book The Writings of the New Testament: An Interpretation, now in its second edition, is widely used in seminaries and departments of religion throughout the world. A former Benedictine monk, Dr. Johnson is a highly sought-after lecturer, a member of several editorial and advisory boards, and a senior fellow at Emory University’s Center for the Study of Law and Religion.

Some of Dr. Johnson’s more popular titles have included The Real Jesus, Living Jesus and Faith’s Freedom: A Classic Spirituality for Contemporary Christians.

The Ring Lecture Series at Holy Trinity will continue in future years and we are currently in discussion Drs. John Dominic Crossan and Walter Brueggemann for 2012 and 2103 respectively . The Series, supported by the Holy Trinity Episcopal Foundation, Inc., honors the memory of Dr. Alfred A. Ring, a longtime Holy Trinity parishioner and University of Florida professor.

The scholarship of Christian theology spans a broad spectrum, containing ideas familiar and comfortable to mainstream denominations such as ours as well as ideas we might find challenging. Sometimes you’ll agree with a speaker, sometimes not. Hopefully, however, each speaker will encourage each of us to grow in our own faith and our relationship with Christ. As we move forward, we will continue to invite eminent theologians, critics and researchers to Holy Trinity, and will make every effort to continue to maintain a theological balance between our lecturers.

We hope you’ll join us on this voyage of discovery!
